It is time again to say Hello to all of
you.
It has been an interesting Spring and
beginning of Summer. I am keeping busy with my Girls
Day/Night Out classes and coming up with new patterns for
all of you. I am especially excited about next year’s block
of the month sampler that I have made, but more about that
in the next newsletter.

At
the end of June, my daughter Kim and I gave a
Girls Weekend Out Retreat in Monroe, WA.. It was
wonderful. Everyone had such a great time and
the food was wonderful. We have three others
scheduled for this year and made reservations
for 5 next year, If you are interested in
attending one of them, email me and I will give
you more information. I am also going to have a
button on my website that will tell about them. |

The middle of July, I will be going to the
Washington State Quilters Guild in Spokane, WA.
I will be doing two different lectures and
teaching two classes. One class will be on the
quilt-as-you-go log cabin pattern Night and Day
and the other class will be on the paper
foundation technique using freezer paper.

The pattern of the month for August is the
Wild Flower pattern. It used 3 shades of 8
color families and an additional 8 greens
accents. I used the Tapestry fabrics by Avlyn.
My friend Sue Shamis from
www.VictoriaVistaQuilts.com has made a kit
up using the same fabrics as mine. If you are
interested in ordering the kit, checkout her
website. I had enough blocks made that I was
able to make a table runner with the leftover
blocks. The pattern includes the table runner
pattern. |

For September the pattern will be Dream
Keeper. I went to sleep one night dreaming
of this pattern and remembered it when I woke up
- thus the name Dream Keeper. It is probable the
easiest pattern to make. I have made five and
can think of so many more fabrics that would be
great in it. The pattern will have three sizes,
baby, lap and queen size. I just love how the
baby size came out; I love all the faces of the
animals in the fabrics I used. |

In October the pattern is a
design I came up with from driving along the 405
freeway at 4th street In Bellevue. I
saw the retaining wall and thought it would make
a great quilt idea. I call it Stained Glass
Tiles. I used a main print Batik fabric and
added about 25 accents from my stash for the
other colors, then one night as I was falling
asleep I thought that you could do it with a
Bali Pop, which is forty 2 1/2” wide batik
strips. This would give you more of a variety in
the blocks. |

I
have used a lot of the colors in the Tapestry
line but had all the browns, grays and black
fabrics left on the table. I felt that I needed
to come up with a pattern for them. One of my
students said to make a Bear Paw quilt with
them. Well, I couldn’t just make a Bear Paw so I
came up with a new design similar but different.
We named it Twinkle Toes . I made the
first one with the browns, black and grays and
then wondered what it would look like if I used
a print. I couldn’t believe what a difference in
the design the fabric choice made. One looks
real masculine and the other real feminine,
almost like flowers. I think it will be a fun
pattern for all and will be the November
pattern of the month.
